There is No Normal (a poem by Richard B.)
used to think
for the longest time
was taught
knee high
to a grasshopper
on a parent’s lap
reinforced in school
on TV, in church
and the big screen
heard it again,
and again,
and again…
about "normal"
don’t want
that constraint
don’t need
unfree
won’t be
not me
let’s free
ourselves
And while we’re at it
let’s see
if free
can be
not just me
can it be?
all of us
all of life
all the bros
and sisters too
in the sea
in the air
on the land
and in the earth
the earth itself
and the air water and mineral
all of the stardust.
There is no normal
There is life
There is no normal
no need for strife
There is no normal.
