Love went out the window, by David C.

I was there in 1988 and I was dismayed/disgusted by the noxious things people on both sides said to people on the opposite side. Love went out the window and no one even opened the window!

I heard one person called a racist because he questioned the decision. I heard people called un-Christian because they supported the decision. Not because I was wise, I was able to keep friends on both sides of the issue. But it was far from easy.

Over time my opinion shifted, but with no thanks to the name callers. Now I am considered too old to have my opinion count. Will we ever get it right? But though we have no lasting city, we have the city that is to come. Maybe that is my hope.
