From Eileen: "A painful time for all but a proud time too"
Living in Ottawa, going to school in Kingston, a mature student commuting.
The "Community of Concern" was popular in Ottawa, rallying against "gay ordination.”
There were difficult conversations dealing with colleagues and clergy mentors.
It was difficult as a heterosexual woman to take a stand. I am still proud of the choice that was made in 1990 at Montreal-Ottawa Conference to stand by a fellow student who
happened to be gay. 12 of us together said all or none! There was quite a long discussion.
A painful time for all but a proud time too.
We have come far but there is still much to accomplish.
Blessings,
Eileen
