I wish I could rewind the spool of time
I wish I had known how to support young people who were struggling with rejection, depression and hopelessness because they were not free to be who they were, to be poud of their uniqueness, to be respected, loved and treasured as human beings. Perhaps I could have prevented a gay young man’s suicide or given a lesbian young woman the confidence to persevere in spite of her family’s rejection. I feel that I failed them and wish I could rewind the spool of time and do what I now know I could, and should, have done.
