I am still here. I am still faithful.
I remember...
Theological school...
...the last semester and reading/hearing about the movements against the church if it accepted homosexuality. My class felt like we were going to be lambs to the slaughter.
I finished my degree and the process for ordination.
Conference Annual meeting (London)...
...waiting for opening motions before being introduced to the court. The first two motions: 1. Accept the agenda. 2. Not to ordain/settle homosexual persons.
I did not withdraw my candidacy and was ordained and settled.
Post 1988 General Council (GC)...
...congregational members announcing we were “ordaining fags” and we had elected a “chink” for Moderator.
I stayed with the church.
GC 1992 (Fredericton)...
Waiting for the results of a vote on a motion to rescind the 1988 decision. Knowing in my heart I had no where else to go.
I am still serving the church.
I am still here.
I am still faithful.
