A response to "I learned love and faith were always okay and beautiful"

Dear Anonymous (writer of I learned love and faith were always okay and beautiful),

First of all, thank you for sharing your story with us! You and your church community give me hope. I am so thankful that in the midst of a community and school that openly discriminates against LGBTQ2-Plus people and allies, that you found, or at least grew up in, an open and affirming congregation where you learned of love and acceptance.

I was reminded while reading your story of the youth I’ve worked with who were discriminated against because they were part of a progressive-justice seeking church. They too stood their ground while seeking to respond with compassion, hoping for change and transformation.

Signed, Craig, in Brandon, Manitoba
