About minorities
Dear United Church,
As a person who identifies as part of the LGBT community, I want you to know how much I appreciate the efforts taken to becoming an inclusive church.
That said, the practice doesn’t always keep up with the idea of inclusivity. Just last evening when discussing presentations at General Council, the discussion was about racial representation. What about other minority groups? Where does the LGBT community fit in? Even our government's Employment Equity Programs only focuses on "visible minorities." I just like to feel that I’m included in the conversation.
